Dr. Elmo & Wild Blue, Marin County's premier bluegrass band, will be celebrating the release of their new CD titled Wild Blue Grass tonight. The quintet mixes bluegrass classics and originals with folk and country songs, providing an entertaining and energetic show for audiences of all ages.
Wild Blue features Dr. Elmo on banjo, whose holiday hit "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" has been the most popular Christmas song in the nation for the past 30 years, having sold over ten million copies. Guitarist John Pierson is the band balladeer and on standup bass is Larry Carlin, whose unique voice adds the high lonesome sound to the band. Dana Rath, of the Modern Mandolin Quartet, plays mandolin and on fiddle is Berklee School of Music virtuoso Kenny Blacklock.
Wild Blue's straight ahead bluegrass, folk, and humorous music kicks like a mule! When they perform, it is both music AND a show.
